Lord open our mouths so we might praise you. May your faithful servants bless you and make known your kingdom

You are blessed God our King of all - to you be all the praise

In these dark times may your light surround us so that we might see your way

May we reflect your love so that others may see you in us and we might seek you in them.

You are blessed and Holy God my father with the Son and Holy spirit

Amen

A white-tailed deer drinks from the creek; I want to drink God, deep draughts of God. I'm thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, "Will I ever make it— arrive and drink in God's presence?" I'm on a diet of tears— tears for breakfast, tears for supper. All day long people knock at my door,  Pestering,  "Where is this God of yours?"

4 These are the things I go over and over, emptying out the pockets of my life. I was always at the head of the worshiping crowd,  right out in front, Leading them all,  eager to arrive and worship, Shouting praises, singing thanksgiving— celebrating, all of us, God's feast!  5 Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God—  soon I'll be praising again.  He puts a smile on my face. He's my God.

6-8 When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse everything I know of you,  From Jordan depths to Hermon heights,  including Mount Mizar.  Chaos calls to chaos,  to the tune of whitewater rapids.  Your breaking surf, your thundering breakers  crash and crush me.  Then God promises to love me all day,  sing songs all through the night!  My life is God's prayer.

Luke 19:29-38

The Message (MSG)

God's Personal Visit

28-31After saying these things, Jesus headed straight up to Jerusalem. When he got near Bethphage and Bethany at the mountain called Olives, he sent off two of the disciples with instructions: "Go to the village across from you. As soon as you enter, you'll find a colt tethered, one that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says anything, asks, 'What are you doing?' say, 'His Master needs him.'"

32-33The two left and found it just as he said. As they were untying the colt, its owners said, "What are you doing untying the colt?"

34They said, "His Master needs him."

35-36They brought the colt to Jesus. Then, throwing their coats on its back, they helped Jesus get on. As he rode, the people gave him a grand welcome, throwing their coats on the street.

37-38Right at the crest, where Mount Olives begins its descent, the whole crowd of disciples burst into enthusiastic praise over all the mighty works they had witnessed:

   Blessed is he who comes,
      the king in God's name!
   All's well in heaven!
      Glory in the high places!

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;  he came and set his people free.   He set the power of salvation in the centre of our lives,  and in the very house of David his servant,  Just as he promised long ago  through the preaching of his holy prophets: Deliverance from our enemies  and every hateful hand; Mercy to our fathers, as he remembers to do what he said he'd do,  What he swore to our father Abraham—  a clean rescue from the enemy camp,  So we can worship him without a care in the world,  made holy before him as long as we live.

And you, my child, "Prophet of the Highest,"  will go ahead of the Master to prepare his ways, Present the offer of salvation to his people,  the forgiveness of their sins. Through the heartfelt mercies of our God,  God's Sunrise will break in upon us,  Shining on those in the darkness,  those sitting in the shadow of death,  Then showing us the way, one foot at a time,  down the path of peace

We offer our prayers for:

The day, its tasks and opportunities

The world and its needs

The mission of God

Amazing Beautiful Father,

You showed us your Son to undo everything that is wrong with this world

And to make us the children you created us to be for now and eternity:

Now we have this hope, may we be like Him in our hearts and lives;

Ready for the day when we come face to face in your kingdom

Where he is alive and reigns with you,

Together with the Holy Spirit,

One God, now and for ever.

Amen
